So America’s Broke, But We Can Afford Genocide?

February 15th, 2011

Why are we awarding hundreds-of-millions of our tax dollars to a private corporation that is already making hundreds-of-millions in profits? Why would we even if we were not on the brink of economic collapse? Especially for something like this?

    Because, as far as the Federal budget is concerned, it is a small portion and provides a huge service. I am sorry you are upset about the 3% of services that are abortion services and completely overlooks the other 97% of the services that are so important.

    Why not raise taxes on the wealth and cut military spending (like 70% of Americans want) ?

    One might ask the same question about banks, Wall Street, the corporate America that our supremely conservative Supreme Court found as deserving of protections as actual American citizens, no?

    There’s a rant in here about farm subsidies going to large corporate farms and putting small family farms out of business. Hell, personhood of corporations for that matter. How come government spending is only bad when it doesn’t line up with your ideology?

    @Emma
    I’m as opposed to bailouts as anyone, but at least we’re not paying “banks, Wall Street, the corporate America“, etc to kill babies.

    @Leland
    So, what about the military? Babies are getting killed there too. How do you justify that?

    I support an end of funding to Planned Parenthood. No one should profit from infanticide.

    Just signed the Susan B. Anthony pro-life petition to my congressman, asking him to vote to defund Planned Parenthood. Last time I checked, real “parents” don’t murder their unborn.

    @Leland
    I donate a small amount of money to Planned Parenthood every month, have been doing so for over ten years now. I have no problem with some of my tax dollars going to Planned Parenthood.

    Planned Parenthood provides perfectly legal reproductive health care to many, many people who in many cases have no where else to go. If you’re so concerned about the health care they provide, perhaps you could bend your efforts to the task of working towards universal health care. Or is that too socialist for you?

    “I support an end of funding to Planned Parenthood. No one should profit from infanticide.”

    Ah, but the death of women is OK.
    So, what about your feelings on the military? It kills babies, children and adults, on both sides.

    Do you really think outlawing abortion will end abortion? Do you really think it will solve any of the problems in the U.S? I mean, will it actually help anyone?

    (Obvs. answer bout’ the precious unborn not withstanding.)

    I would also point out that in Canada abortion is not only legal – it is not subject to law at all. There are no laws against it or limiting it or even referencing it and it’s completely government funded too. Canada has – compared to the US a very low abortion rate. The US – 4.0945 per 1,000 people – Canada – 2.15056 per 1,000 people.

    Emma, why would someone who opposes subsidizing abortions would want Obamacare which does the exact same thing? Very silly question. The Supreme Court is not conservative as you have said, try using facts first instead of your very slanted opinion. GInsberg, Sotomayor, Breyer and Stevens are liberals and Kennedy is in the middle/centrist.

    Mark, statements like that about military personnel is disgusting to say the least. To compare abortion to the military fighting a war is digusting.

    Mont D. Law, where do you get your statistics from?

    “Mark, statements like that about military personnel is disgusting to say the least. To compare abortion to the military fighting a war is digusting (sic).”

    Point taken. I meant to type war, not the military. I have a nephew in the Marines and will be soon sent overseas (again). I feel it’s a terrible waste of money, and lives.
