Dying teen’s video inspires millions
I often get asked why I like social media so much. Parents are concerned at the amount of time their children spend online and the relationships that are suffering as a result. They see the constant need to be in the know and the increasingly short attention spans as something detrimental. And while I agree, there are serious downsides to social media, there are also amazing upsides that if tapped properly can make a huge difference.
For instance… Last week, a silent video by Ben Breedlove a teenager who died of a rare heart condition went viral. He passed away on Christmas Day, having posted this two-part video days before his heart gave out for the last time. In it he talks about the times he previously cheated death and what it felt like to die and then come back to life in this world. His video is inspiring and heartfelt. He talks about not fearing what comes after death because it is so wonderful. He proudly admits he is not afraid to die and that there is nothing in his life that he is ashamed of.
