View From The Right: How Democrats Are Using Women As Pawns

The most heated political rhetoric of late is not taking place on the campaign trail, but rather is being debated in the media and on social media networks in the wake of the testimony of Sandra Fluke in front of an unofficial Congressional hearing. The hearing was in response to the recent Obama/Health and Human Services mandate that religious institutions provide or subsidize contraception despite their religious and moral objections.
Nancy Pelosi organized the hearing to distract from the real issue at hand: religious liberty and the Obama administration’s blatant trampling of it. Ms. Fluke appeared before the panel with many tales of woe about how she and her fellow coeds at Georgetown University Law School are suffering emotional — yes, emotional! — pain at the thought of paying for their own contraception. And their studies are suffering, too, because they are so consumed with their quest for free birth control (which, incidentally, is only 1.5 miles away). Don’t believe that grown women who are supposedly empowered to run the world can’t take care of their own birth control needs? Read her testimony.
Here are two simple solutions for Sandra Fluke, and other women who agree with her:
1. Can’t afford your own birth control? Don’t have sex.
2. Want your educational institution to pay for your contraceptives? Don’t choose a Catholic one.
As a Catholic myself, and a supporter of Catholic institutions, what Sandra Fluke is telling me is that her birth control needs trump the needs of my family. She wants my hard earned dollars to go not to pay for my kids’ braces, their college educations or my retirement, but to subsidize her sex life.
Smart women of America know nothing is free. Someone always has to pay. Our country is swimming in debt and we have a president more interested in getting reelected than actually taking measures to cure our ailing economy. And therein lies the problem. Women who voted for Obama in 2008 thinking they were voting for “hope and change” now realize they were sold a bill of goods. They see their neighbors suffering and they see their president playing golf, taking vacations and generally ignoring the plight of struggling Americans.
Knowing that women voters are leaving Obama, the left has deliberately waged a war designed to scare them into thinking their birth control will be taken from them. EMILY’s List calls these disenchanted women voters “defectors” and they’ll stop at nothing to get them back.
The use of the word “defector” by the left is supremely insulting. A defector is someone who switches allegiances, usually in a manner deemed to be traitorous. Got that? If you are a woman who voted for Obama in ’08 but don’t like what he’s done as president and don’t plan to vote for him again, you are considered a traitor by the left. Newsflash: Women are not born with a genetic allegiance to the Democrat party and its liberal causes. Plenty of us prefer to think for ourselves.
