MARCH FOR LIFE GATHERING and A PROJECT FOR YOU
This month marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. We told you we might have a DC gathering while you’re in town for the March…WELL, HERE ARE THE DETAILS:
Time: Immediately following the March—roughly 2:30 onward
Location: Heritage Foundation: 214 Massachusetts Ave, NE, Allison Auditorium Foyer, 7th floor. (Here is a map with walking directions from the end of the March at the Supreme Court to the Heritage Foundation….as you will see on the map, our meeting place is just a few blocks from the ending point of the March and also just a few blocks from Union Station).
We’ll have cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, and tea to warm you up! I hope this will be a great opportunity to meet each other and get re-energized for our 2013 work. I’m looking forward to meeting all of you who can make it!
Please RSVP to this email address () or on our Facebook event page linked here.
AND NOW FOR SOME FUN….we told you in the last email that in the Wheaton College v. Sebelius case a federal court ordered the Obama Administration to reformulate the HHS Mandate by March 31.
Why don’t we ask America’s “most influential Catholic in the White House” to help us out in that reformulation??
Vice President Joe Biden has cited his Catholic faith as a defining feature of who he is. In the 2012 Vice Presidential debate he said: “My religion defines who I am. And I’ve been a practicing Catholic my whole life.” He has also said: “The animating principle of my faith, as taught to me by church and home, was that the cardinal sin was abuse of power.” Let’s help Joe end a clear abuse of power–the HHS Mandate!
I have enclosed a sample letter to the Vice President. Please send some version of this letter, or your own clear, respectful letter it to Vice President Biden. You can address envelopes as such:
The Vice President
Old Executive Office Building
Washington D.C. 20501
And maybe organize a letter writing party? Perhaps submit something like it as a local editorial or letter to the editor? If you do a group effort, perhaps call your local news to cover this endeavor, etc? Please tell me what you did…and I will publicize all of it as much as I can in late January/early February, when the Administration will be good and busy trying to reformulate the rule.
As ever, I THANK YOU, and URGE you to do something CONCRETE FOR WOMEN AND FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM!
Affectionately,
Helen
