Grand jury takes a pass on Texas abortionist
by Charlie Butts
A Texas abortionist remains under close scrutiny by the pro-life community in spite of a grand jury decision.
A Harris County grand jury has no-billed Houston abortionist Douglas Karpen, accused of doing illegal late-term abortions and killing babies born alive during abortions.
Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue is disappointed because of the solid evidence presented.
“We had submitted some testimony from four witnesses who used to work at Karpen’s abortion clinic, and some of those actually took cell phone photos of some large babies that had their throats cut from ear to ear,” she recalls.
Karpen was also accused of twisting the heads off late-term babies born alive.
“Those injuries could not be done inside the womb. They had to be done outside the womb,” says Sullenger. “And so we’re a little shocked and frankly upset that this means that Doug Karpen can continue to inflict this kind of barbarity on late-term babies and on women.”
YourHoustonNews.com reported the grand jury was presented evidence over two months after seven months of investigations by the Houston Police Department, Texas Rangers, and prosecutors.
Grand jury proceedings are secret so it’s not known what evidence was presented.
Operation Rescue says Houston pro-lifers will keep a close watch on Karpen’s abortion factories in the hope of finding conclusive evidence in the future that will convince any fair-minded jury and prosecutors that justice needs to be done.
